Get the bridal look: Poppy Delevingne - Beautiful Bridal Hair & Makeup

We have taken to the archives again for this week’s bridal look. Back in May 2014 Poppy Delevingne married her long time partner James Cook at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge. It was no surprise that the naturally beautiful bride looked stunning, and she chose to wear a custom made Chanel Haute Couture dress.

This style is perfect for those who have gone for a vintage style dress or one that has heavy embellishment, a high neck, or is strapless as these will complement the understated look. It will suit anyone as long as they have enough length to their hair as the wavy style will catch the light giving hair a glossy shine and show off its colour. It will look particularly good on brides with a square or round shape as it will soften your features. Naturally curly hair will hold the shape well, as will fine hair.

How to get the look

Step one:

Wash hair using a volumising shampoo and condition well. Create a good foundation by applying a strong hold mousse and then blow dry using a round brush so that you can generate extra volume and movement.

Step two:

Allow hair to part on your preferred side. Take a curling iron with a medium sized barrel and curl one inch sections, winding hair around the barrel the same way each time until you have curled your whole head.

Step three:

Leave the curls to cool completely before you touch them. Once cool you can then gently brush through your hair so that it forms full waves all the way around your head. Brushing will also cause the tightness in the curls to relax.

Step four:

Mist all over your hair with light hairspray to hold the shape but still allow some movement.

Millie Mackintosh Bridal Hairstyle - DIY Wedding Hair How To Tutorial

When Millie tied the knot with her rapper fiancé Professor Green (real name Stephen Manderson) we knew that it would be a chic affair. The reality TV starlet who appeared on the hit show 'Made in Chelsea' is known for her effortless style, and never puts a foot wrong when it comes to fashion. She chose to walk down the aisle in a beautiful vintage wedding dress by Alice Temperley, but what really topped off her look was her ultra feminine plaited hair do.

Having seen the photos from Millie’s special day, we have put together a step by step guide so that you can have a go at recreating her wedding day hair yourself.

Get the look

Step 1:

Having washed your hair you can now add texture and volume to it by applying some mousse to your towel dried hair. Make sure that you work it through from the root to the tip before blow drying using a round brush.

Step 2:

Once your hair is dry you can now divide it down the middle for a centre parting, brushing so that both sections are nice and smooth.

Step 3:

Now, loosely plait each section and secure the finished plaints with clear hair bands.

Step 4:

Next, take one of the plaits and place it around the top of your head, fixing them in place with Kirby grips. Do exactly the same with the other plait making sure that none of the grips or the hair bands are visible.

Step 5:

You can now gently loosen each plait, putting extra grips in place if you need to. Finish off with some strong hold hairspray to make sure that the style stays in place all day.

REAL BRIDES August 2014 (some of them anyway! More to come. Watch this space...)

August is always one of my busiest months for brides, and this year was no exception! So chocka block with fabulous styles and AMAZING venues, it's hard to know where to begin. In fact, there are so many excellent looks this month that I am going to break them up into two blogs! Here are a selection to get you started...

Julie went for a retro feel complete with her mum's 1964 bridal headpiece! Julie bought some netting for £2.50 off eBay and at the last minute, I created her birdcage veil. Such fun!  Here she is, looking absolutely fantastic, posing on her Camden Lock penthouse apartment balcony.

Sarah went for a gorgeous half up half down do (with a little added volume on the crown!), whilst her bridesmaid had this wonderful, intricate braided bun. Perfect with their outfits! Just love them.

Sini also opted for the half up half down style (a popular choice for a reason!), with a fab, diamante hair accessory. Doesn't she look great?!

I helped Lindsay to get ready for her big day, at Kensington Roof Gardens, by styling this beautiful low, curled bun with a mini beehive. I had some lovely comments from Lindsay about our time together: "Hi Pam, I can't thank you enough for everything. Sorry I got getting stressed at the end. My hair and make up was perfect and stayed perfect and I had so many compliments. I had the best day of my life.  It was a pleasure working with you, you was so calm and so helpful and most importantly you created a look that was beyond my expectations and for that I will be eternally grateful.Thank you!"

Roxy wore a chic high bun to show off her enviable dress, finished with antique lace. She looked fabulous and her 'round the world' wedding cake was a stroke of genius!

Sarah also wore a gorgeous half up half down do, complete with tiara! Here she is with her mum and bridesmaid, ready to walk down the aisle in Chelsea.

Cordelia exuded Downton Abbey elegance at her wedding in Cain Manor, accompanied by her THREE pregnant bridesmaids! One baby was due in 4 days at the time...

I was lucky enough to style Katy Compton, an up & coming soprano singer! I just loved her floor length veil. Stunning!

So many more brides to come for August...watch this space! xxx

July 2014 Pam Wrigley's REAL brides - hairstyle inspiration!

I think it's safe to say that July was a little bit of a disappointment, weather wise, BUT that didn't stop the beautiful weddings rolling in. My brides all looked fantastic - it's always such a pleasure to work with such amazing people. I really do have the best job in the world...
Anyway, enough bragging from me :) let's get onto what you REALLY want to see - July's real brides!

Alison looked positively radiant for her wedding at Hedsor House, as did her gorgeous bridesmaids! Her elegant, down 'do worked perfectly with her strapless gown and the braided up styles that her entourage went for completed Alison's look perfectly as well!

Jan's swept back style looked pretty amazing, matched with that fab, traditional jewellery, don't you think? I just adore that headpiece she wore. Also, would you check out the tresses on her sister Meera?! Wow - It's such fun working with hair like that. Glossy, full and with a bit of added sparkle!

Joo was lucky enough to have her big day celebrated at the idyllic setting of Nonsuch Park - what a wonderful place! Her curled up, chignon style with incorporated braiding and woven accessories to finish has got to be my favourite style I worked with this month - just perfect - and it looked wonderful with her veil fixed in too.

Nancy looked every inch the princess with her enviable, tumbling curls! Set off with that fab diamante hair band - you just can't go wrong really. Truly beautiful :)

Tracy's style suited her down to the ground and looked absolutely fantastic! A mix between a grecian up 'do and a classic bridal style, finished with a flowing, mid length veil - this look worked for her so well and I am so happy to have been a part of this precious occasion.

Thank you to all my beautiful brides for making my job possible! xxx
