Winter Hair Tips

The cold weather can play havoc with your ordinarily tame tresses, so here are some tops tips to keep your locks looking great this winter!

  • With the weather getting colder, it can be tough to keep your curls bouncy when using products instead of hard and crunchy! Try Tigi's Foxy Curls contour cream. It is moisture rich, so it softens rather than stiffens!

  • Want to avoid bad hat hair? For long hair, twist and secure a high bun on the top of you head before adoring your headgear and just shake loose when you take it off again! For short hair, pull the front section of your hair into four small bumps and secure with grips. This will keep your hair bouncy, not flattened!

  • Try more updos this winter. Not only will they help to protect your hair from the harsh cold, wind and rain; but they also look wonderfully festive!!

  • Sick of the wind causing your once shiny, smooth hair to become a matte, tangled mess? Try using a leave-in conditioner after each wash to build stronger hair and help keep tangles away. Also, keep some conditioning spray or a shine boosting serum in your hand bag for quick touch ups.

  • And last but not least, remember to keep your hair super moisturised! The harsh elements will really dry out your hair, not to mention the increased use of heat styling; so make sure that you stick to moisturiser, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, ditch anything 'volumising' as that will also dry your hair out; and deep condition once a week. Try Shu Uemura Art of Hair Moisture Velvet Nourishing Treatment. It works wonders!

Etsy shops

I have recently discovered how wonderful Etsy is for finding the most amazing accessories to help really make the most of a beautiful style.
This shop is just fantastic - so much choice (as well as a custom made service) and SO gorgeous! It's definitely made my top 10!

Great feedback!

Got some WONDERFUL feedback from a 2012 bride last night that I wanted to share with you all!

"Hi Pam,
You did my and my sisters make up and hair back in 2012 (26th Oct).
I just thought that I never sent you any photos from the day so I've attached a couple just to remind you how absolutely fab you are!
I wish I could feel that gorgeous everyday! Should attach a before photo! Lol
Maybe a little self indulgent, but there is a great one of you doing my hair.
Thanks again for make us both feel so
Gorgeous
Lots of love
Gemma X"

Thank you so much, Gemma. And thank you for these gorgeous photos. Take a look, everyone!

3 Day Course

This week I have been running my 3 day course, teaching students all sorts of brilliant red carpet and bridal hair styles! I just LOVE this part of my job!! Seeing all the fab work that comes out of it is really rewarding and I am always thrilled to hear what a good time everyone has had.

(There I am, doing my bit!)

It amazes me how much we manage to fit into our time together, but these ladies just got into the swing of it so fast that there was no stopping them!

We covered vintage finger waves (and brushing out, to create that red carpet vintage.)

After that, we went onto some intricate (and very beautiful!) plaits, twists and braids

Including this fab crown braid, which was one of the styles created on our live models!

As well as this one, which was an Audrey Hepburn look

I always ensure that the styles I teach are on trend and up to date, so my students get the best possible experience from their time with me.

Here is a gorgeous 'High Bun' we worked on that is super hot at the moment!

We worked on hair extensions (fitting and styling!)

And last, but not least, the essential fixing and incorporating hair accessories and veils!

All in all, it has been a VERY productive 3 days! I had a really great time and I hope that everyone else did too.
